Shifting of Telephone Connection

Transfer of Registration of Telephone on All India basis

Applicant Seeking transfer on All India basis may apply on plain paper / letterhead to the Asstt. General Manager (Commercial) of the concerned area office giving the details of Registration No./ Date/ Category/ Address as also the details of the place where transfer is required.

It will cover the cases registered under NON -OYT GENERAL, OYT SPECIAL Categories. The applicant will be given seniority of registration at the new station as per the seniority exiting at the old station. Registration under special category will be done on submission of relevant in support of his claim to special category. No transfer of registration from Non- OYT to OYT and vice versa will be permitted under this scheme. Commercial section at the old address will verify the genuineness of signature of the applicant and issue a Registration Transfer Certificate giving the details of registration of telephone, its category and refund of the registration fee as per rules but without interest.

On Receipt of Registration Transfer Certificate, the applicant will apply for registration of telephone on the prescribed applicable form at the new station within 30 days from the date of issue of Registration Transfer Certificate and redeposit the registration fee as applicable at the new station. No processing charges will be taken when the transfer of registration is requested to the same registration fee areas. On receipt of Registration transfer Certificate, the applicant will apply for registration of telephone on the prescribed application form at the new station with in 30days from the date of issue of Registration Transfer Certificate and deposit the registration.

Q: Can I keep my telephone under safe custody?

A: Safe custody of telephone means temporary disconnection of a working telephone for a specific period when you do not want to use telephone. Only working telephone can be kept under safe custody. Full rental is charged for the first 90 days in case in case of Non Electronic and 6 months in case of an Electronic Exchange. For the subsequent period, 40% rental is chargeable, if the telephone no. and cable pair are not required to be reserved, otherwise full; rental is charged for the entire period of safe custody. Restoration fee is Rs. 20/- Apply to divisional Customer Service Centre on prescribed application form.

Q: Can a telephone which is in the name of the landlord be used by a tenant?

A: Yes subject to the following conditions :

• i) Application on letter head/plain paper along with a joint declaration (by landlord and the tenant) to the concerned area Customer Service Centres is required
• ii) Permission fee of Rs. 100/- on each occasion.
• iii) Bills will be raised in the name of tenant during the period of authorization .
• iv) Liability to pay outstanding dues lies with the landlord.
• v) No request for shift, accessories, etc. will be entertained form the tenant.
• vi) All disputes inn respect to this connection will be dealt with the landlord.
• vii) This facility is not permitted for the telephone connection installed under special category.
